Mayfair Lane Pub & Dining Room

We had friends from out of town. Julio&rsquo;s was conveniently located to us, staff were very accommodating when we requested to be moved to a quieter table. Ambience was warm and full of character.  Food was deeelicious! Wine was superb. Service was great! Definitely go again

very pleasant restaurant, very good service and orders takne promptly an dmeals served in a reasonable period of time. A good selection of wines and drinks.  The melas ordered were prepared just right and   delight to consume.

great dining experience

My husband and myself booked to have an early dinner last night at Mayfair having googled for a good steakhouse. Before I commence the review I would like to emphasise how helpful the floor staff and floor manager were. The ambience was great and decor lovely. We chose to order the 620g Chateaubriand at a cost of $139.  We requested a medium to rare cook.  At the time of ordering we were advised it would take some time and we were happy with that. After almost a 45- 1hr wait our steak came out.  It was burnt to a crisp on the outside and completely dry and inedible.  I spoke to the waitress who called the Manager who apologised profusely and offered for it to be redone etc etc. We had already started on our sides and so the meal experience was ruined. Again the staff were very apologetic and offered new sides but we were not happy to waste food and just patiently waited.  After another 25 minutes the second steak arrived and it  quite burnt on the outside (they called it charred) and then literally had sections of raw steak through the middle and extremely bloody.  We were so disappointed that the chef clearly had no idea how to cook a steak medium to well even on a second attempt.   Given the steak was $139, it should be beyond perfect not some burn&apos;t rubbish we were presented with. I am appalled the chef had the presence of mind when he cut into both attempts to actually sent out the steak as he/she did. I had dinner at Conventry Markets last week and the steak I got there was just beautiful and perfectly cooked and it only cost me $24. As I said the Manager tried to make up for the experience by offering takeaway meals but we had already wasted 2 hours for nothing and quite frankly I wouldn&apos;t trust anything that chef cooked after the experience we had had.  We did not pay due to the circumstance for anything but sadly we left hungry and totally in awe of the Chef.

We loved the ambiance, but we&rsquo;re disappointed with the food. 3 out of 4 dishes were bland. The meals looked great, but flavor was one dimensional.
